Jet Airways puts international plans back in motion

Mumbai: Jet Airways has reversed gears and put its overseas expansion plan back on track. In a move confirmed by airline officials, the country's largest private airline said it has now decided to deploy two new A330s on India-Saudi Arabia route.
According to chief commercial officer, Sudheer Raghavan the carrier is now also considering African destinations, even as it increases its presence in Asia.
Speaking to the media, Raghavan said new aircraft due for delivery in December will be required for the carrier's international operations.
Jet is due to take delivery of 30 737NG aircraft over the next few year. Of these 30 aircraft, 10 will join the JetLite fleet.
The carrier also has five 777-300ER and five A330-200 due for delivery by 2011.
The carrier operates a fleet of 85 aircraft, including 10 Boeing 777-300 ER, 10 Airbus A330-200, 54 Classic and Next Generation Boeing 737 400/700/800/900 as well as 11 modern ATR 72-500 turboprops.
Meanwhile, Jet launched its daily direct flight between Thiruvananthapuram and Muscat and now has a total of three daily services to Muscat from Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Mumbai. It also connects six destinations in the Gulf (Kuwait, Bahrain, Muscat, Doha, Abu Dhabi and Dubai) from Kozhikode, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai and Delhi.
It has also expanded its domestic network with three new daily flights from Hyderabad, Goa and Pune.
