Tiruchirappalli: Flag carrier, Air India, has announced daily services on the Chennai-Tiruchirappalli-Sharjah route from 21 August, an airline statement said here. Earlier, the airline had begun direct services on the Chennai-Tiruchirappalli-Thiruvananthapuram-Sharjah route in March this year.

However, return flights began skipping Tiruchirappalli three times a week because of shortage of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) security personnel at the airport here, according to Air India officials.

Now that the strength of the CISF unit has been augmented, daily services to Tiruchirappalli have been restored, the statement said.
