SpiceJet has announced its Special Advance Purchase Fare scheme through which tickets, with up to 50 per cent discount on base fare, will be available for purchase from 14 August 2008. It said the scheme is applicable for tickets purchased 15 days prior to the date of travel.

Announcing the special offer in the capital, Samyuktha Sridharan, chief commercial officer, SpiceJet Ltd said, ''The festival season in India starts soon and it is the time when families and friends get together. This special offer will help them to plan their visits now. This trend of booking early for holidays is universal. The fare structure that low cost carriers offer encourages travelers to plan their leaves and holidays better'', he added.

Sridharan also said that the carrier would offer a special promo fare, starting at Rs599, on the Delhi-Mumbai sector in order to boost traffic.

SpiceJet has also launched Freedom to Fly scheme, effective 15 August 2008 for the Indian armed forces. The offer makes it the first time that any private airline has offered a scheme designed primarily for the armed forces.

"Under Freedom to Fly scheme, all serving defence personnel would enjoy 100 per cent discount on basic fare for unlimited tickets on any sector. They will just have to pay the taxes and fees," SpiceJet director, Kishore Gupta, said while launching the scheme.

Terming it beneficial for the defence personnel, air chief marshal FH Major said, "it is beneficial for the soldiers, the sailors and the airmen who want to reduce their travelling time to reach home while going on leave."

The airline issued the first ticket under this scheme to ACM Major.

The offer, which has been launched for the first time in India, is an indefinite one and will begin from 15 August.
