05 Aug 2008
Dragonair celebrated the recent launch of its Hong-Kong- Bangalore (Bengaluru) service at a special gala event in this southern Indian city. The event was hosted by the airline's chief executive officer, Kenny Tang.
The airline said among those present were government officials and representatives from India's travel industry.
Dragonair launched this daily service between Hong Kong and Bengaluru on 1 July and is the only airline offering non-stop flights between these two cities in Asia.
Speaking at the gala event that marked the commencement of the airline's passenger services in India, Tang said: ''We are delighted to see ties between India and Hong Kong being moved to a new level with the start of our flights. I am sure the travellers of Bengaluru and southern India will soon become familiar with the Dragonair brand.''
Bangalore becomes Dragonair's seventh new destination since becoming part of the Cathay Pacific Group in September 2006.
''With the support of our sister airline Cathay Pacific's international network, the service between Bengaluru and Hong Kong will have a significant international reach, offering Indian travellers convenient connections to the rest of the world through the Hong Kong hub,'' Tang said.
