Air India Express expands B737-800 fleet – will commence operations to Kuwait

Air India's low cost international service, Air India Express, is set to expand operations further into the Gulf region, with the induction of the12th B737-800 aircraft into its fleet. The Indian flag carrier has said that it will now commence operations to Kuwait from three cities in south India - Kozhikode, Kochi and Mangalore.

It will provide a daily service for Kuwait to passengers from Kozhikode, a thrice-weekly service from Kochi and two flights a week from Mangalore. With these new services, Air India Express will provide 150 international frequencies a week.

The new aircraft induction takes the strength of the Air India Express fleet to 19, of which seven are on lease.

Air India Express commenced operations on 29 April 2005 and currently operates services between 14 Indian cities and 12 foreign cities.

Its network of Indian cities include Kochi, Kozhikode, Thiruvanathapuram, Mumbai, Delhi, Amritsar, Mangalore, Chennai, Lucknow, Tiruchirapalli, Nagpur, Kolkata, Jaipur and Hyderabad.

The 12 international destinations are Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Al Ain, Muscat, Salalah, Bahrain, Doha, Singapore, Colombo, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok.
