Two Chinese airlines have ordered a total of 30 Embraer E-190s, plus five options, in the course of Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff's state visit to China. The deal worth $1.25 billion has been struck by China Southern Airlines and Hebai Airlines Co.

A JetBlue Embraer 190Recent entrants into the aviation business, Shijiazhuang-based Hebei Airlines, launched in June 2010, committed to 10 E-190s, plus options for an additional five units. Deliveries will commence September 2012.

Embraer also confirmed that China Southern ordered a ''second batch of 10 E-190s as a follow-on order to an agreement concluded earlier this year.''

In addition, both airlines signed a letter of intent for a third group of 10 E-190s, which, if confirmed, will bring the total order to 30 aircraft, valued at $1.25 billion at list prices, Embraer said.

Deliveries for China Southern will commence in the second half of this year.

In a statement, Embraer said the new orders brings its total of firm orders in the Chinese market to 135 aircraft.

Separately, Embraer on Tuesday signed an agreement with AVIC, in which both sides will use their Harbin Embraer Aircraft Industry Co joint venture as the final assembly line for the Legacy 600 and 650 executive aircraft.

Harbin, which was established in January 2003, has produced and delivered only 39 ERJ-145s and has been idle since 2009 after Hainan Airlines cancelled its order for 25 ERJ-145s.
