Rolls Royce has announced that Jet Airways, India's largest private carrier, has signed a TotalCare agreement to cover its Trent 700-powered Airbus A330-200 aircraft. Jet was the first airline in India to operate a member of the Trent family of engines with its two A330-200s.

According to Rolls Royce, Jet joins a growing number of operators which have chosen TotalCare, the service support package, which can be tailored for individual operators. It offers a range of services  that covers all aspects of asset management, including elements such as predictive maintenance, logistics management, and global repair and overhaul offerings.

Since 2001, 80% of new Trent orders have included TotalCare.

Service agreements increase aftermarket revenues, and revenue from such services already comprises 63% of the company's civil aerospace revenues.

According to the venerable UK engine maker and aerospace giant, more than 55% of the company's modern jet engine fleet currently is covered by TotalCare or CorporateCare service agreements.

With around 80% of civil engine orders announced by Rolls-Royce in the last 18 months incorporating service arrangements, the proportion of fleet coverage will continue to rise, enhancing revenues from this segment.

According to Rolls, the Trent 700 is market leader on the A330 with 54 customers and operators, giving it a 53% market share. Over the next three years, approximately 60% of A330 deliveries will be Trent 700-powered, including all follow-on orders from existing customers.

The company said that the Trent is not only the most powerful engine for the A330, delivering outstanding levels of performance, but also the quietest and cleanest option for the A330, with the greatest margin to CAEP 4 legislation.

Latest technologies fed into the engine as a performance improvement package have delivered better fuel burn, which translates into lower emissions.

Jet Airways is India's oldest privately-owned domestic airline and began international operations in 2004.
