Intel has collaborated with HP to co-develop necessary software-hardware combination to perform AL jobs on personal computers. The collaboration has helped HP refine performance of the central processing unit (CPU), graphics processing unit (GPU) and neural processing unit (NPU) as also benchmark and validate their performance for various AI-based applications.
Together, the two tech companies have developed a new class of laptops that can be adapted to user’s requirements through AI-enhanced performance, thereby helping to improve productivity and creativity, says an Intel Corporation release
The new AI-ready PCs include the EliteBook X, EliteBook Ultra and EliteBook 8 for business users, all running on Intel Core Ultra-based systems.
For HP and Intel, it is important to demonstrate real world AI capabilities in a market that is driven by the AI software applications. The collaboration is part of the efforts to stay connected to the customer and remain relevant in a highly competitive world.
Intel used HP prototypes to curate a list of AI applications best optimised for platforms that run on Intel processing units. Over a two-week period, Intel teams tested 12 configurations across eight AI PC models to identify software needs for different platforms and validate them.
Engineers from Intel and HP collaborated to optimise performance across CPU, GPU and NPU resources, focusing on tangible improvements in app response time and performance.
Intel’s software team identified nine AI-enhanced applications that performed particularly well on HP’s Intel-based PCs, which have been lab-tested to prove gains.
In fact, the results would enable HP to improve PC sales and deliver results to customers.
With AI assistance HP’s business analytics solution, PowerBi, which has over 115 million users, now runs up to 45 per cent faster on the new HP laptop, claims Intel.
Some of the other Intel-optimised AI software packages run best on HP’s EliteBook X and EliteBook Ultra AI PCs include Tableau – a business analytics solution that visualises data in charts and graphs – which runs up to 48 per cent faster; Adobe Lightroom - an online photo editor, which runs up to 32 per cent faster; and Canvid – an app that helps create professional screen recording videos.
Both Canvid and Writeup, which used to run on Apple PCs, are now available on Windows-based PCs through HP’s AI platform.
