Anand Sinha takes over as RBI deputy governor

Anand Sinha has taken over as deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). He will look after the banking operations and development and urban banks departments.
The other deputy governors of RBI are, Smt. Shyamala Gopinath, Dr.K.C.Chakrabarty and Dr. Subir Gokarn.
Besides the two regulatory departments, Sinha will also look after the departments of information technology, expenditure and budgetary control, inspection, legal and premises, RBI said in a web site release.
His term of office is for a period of two years ending 28 February 2013.
Sinha was RBI's executive director looking after the department of banking operations and development, financial stability unit and the department of expenditure and budgetary control.
During his 34-year central banking career, Sinha has been involved with formulation of several major regulatory and supervisory policies for commercial banks. He has also been on several internal committees. He has handled, among others, foreign exchange, deposit insurance and regional office work during his career.
