Sunil Nair to take additional charge of Citi's PE business in India

Citi today said that Sunil Nair, managing director and head of Citi Venture Capital International's (CVCI) investments in Central / Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa, will assume additional charge of India with immediate effect. CVCI has over $6 billion assets under management.

He replaces PR Srinivasan, who will is leaving in the next few months.

Nair joined Citi through Salomon Smith Barney, the former investment the formerly investment banking arm of Citigroup in 1997, before joining Citi's private equity business in 1999 and was one of the founding partners of CVCI in 2001.

Earlier he was with McKinsey & Company.

With over 15 years of international experience, including 11 years of private equity experience, Nair is one of the pioneers and leading exponents of structured private equity investments in the emerging markets, with extensive experience spanning buyouts, expansion capital, privatisations, restructurings, and industry consolidations across markets including India, Russia, Turkey, Poland, South Africa and Egypt, among several others.

Nair holds advanced degrees from Yale, Italy's Scuola Superiore Enrico Mattei and Chennai's Loyola College.
