More and more people are shifting to mobile shopping as application developers add new features to make mobile shopping experience seamless. At least 45 million (47 per cent) smart phone users in the United States are accessing shopping applications in their mobile devices, according to a recent Nielsen survey.

The number of times mobile shoppers use the mobile shopping applications has also gone up to an average of more than 17 times a month in June 2012, according to the survey.

In June alone, online shopping company eBay reported 13 million unique visitors to their web site while Amazon attracted 12 million visitors to its shopping site.

Daily deal sites such as Groupon and LivingSocial also reported more than 10 million Americans users in June.

''Retailers are finding that consumers are willing to use smart phone apps to enhance their shopping experience, and this data shows usage of shopping apps is growing,'' Don Kellogg, director of Telecom Insights at Nielsen, said in a press release.

Mobile shoppers spent an average of one hour and four minutes on eBay Mobile each month compared to Amazon Mobile at just 18 minutes or so, according to the new Nielsen report.
