SBT''s new scheme for rainwater harvesting

Thiruvananthapuram: State Bank of Travancore has introduced a scheme to finance farmers for harvesting rainwater.

The scheme will be operational in Kerala and the erstwhile Travancore areas in Tamil Nadu with similar rain pattern, according to a statement from the bank.

 Farmers having land holdings of not less than 50 cents are eligible for the loan, which will be 75 per cent of the project cost but up to a maximum of Rs 88,000. The borrower will have to bear 25 per cent of the cost as margin money.
