Mumbai: The finance ministry will interview four senior officials of State Bank of India (SBI) for the chairmans post that falls vacant in October 2002 when the present incumbent, Janki Ballabh, retires.
Sources say four executives being called are: State Bank of Patiala managing director A K Purwar; Chandan Bhattacharya, deputy managing director (DMD), audit and inspection; S Santhana Krishnan, DMD and corporate development officer; and Ashok Kini, DMD in charge of information technology.
The four executives have been chosen on the basis of the fact that they have more than two years of residual service a necessary prerequisite for the chairmans post.
The sources say B D Sumitra, who will be made DMD on 31 July 2002, can also be called at the last moment for the interview as he too has two years of residual service. Sumitra was till recently chief general manger (audit and compliance).
