India’s core sector industrial production up 3.1% in November

Core sector industrial production in the country increased by 3.1 per cent year-on-year in November 2021 on the back of an increase in the production of coal, natural gas, refinery rroducts, fertilizers, steel and electricity, provisional figures released by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) showed.

The combined index of the eight core sector industries, viz, coal, crude oil, natural gas, refinery products, fertilizers, steel, cement and electricity, having 40.27 per cent of the weight of items included in the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), recorded a growth of 13.7 per cent during April-November 2021-22.
Final growth rate of the index of eight core sector industries for August 2021 now stands revised to 12.2 per cent from its provisional level of 11.6 per cent. 
Within the core sector industries, production of coal, hich has a weight of 10.33 per cent i the general index, increased by 8.2 per cent in November 2021, while cumulative coal productio increased by 11.6 per cent during April-November 2021-22.
Production of crude oil (weight of 8.98 per cent in IIP) declined by 2.2 per cent in November 2021, while cumulative production od crude oil declined by 2.7 per cent during April-November 2021-22.
Production of natural gas (weight of 6.88 per cent in IIP) increased by 23.7 per cent in November 2021, while cumulative production of crude oil increased by 22.8 per cent during April-November 2021-22.
Petroleum refinery production (weight of 28.04 per cent in IIP) increased by 4.3 per cent in November 2021, while cumulative refinery throughput increased by 10.6 per cent during April-November 2021-22.
Production of fertilizers (weight of 2.63 per cent in IIP) increased by 2.5 per cent in November 2021, while cumulative production of fertilisers decreased by 0.6 per cent during April-November 2021-22.
Steel production (weight of 17.92 per cent in IIP) increased by 0.8 per cent in November 2021, while cumulative steel production increased by 25.3 per cent during April-November 2021-22.
Cement production (weight of 5.37 per cent in IIP) decreased by 3.2 per cent in November 2021, while  cumulative steel production increased by 28.3 per cent during April-November 2021-22.
Electricity generation (weight of 19.85 per cent in IIP) increased by 1.5 per cent in November 2021, while cumulative generation of electricity increased by 10.2 per cent during April-November 2021-22.
