Hindustan Motors kick-starts all-India mega-service camp

New Delhi: Hindustan Motors (HM) has announced the launch of an all-India mega-service camp for Ambassador taxi operators across India.
Offerings of HM's all-India mega-service camp
  • Free service to Ambassador taxi operators by HM-trained technical personnel
  • A complete check-up of the vehicle
  • Repair at discounted rates at HM authorised dealers
  • Educate customers on numerous product developments initiated by HM in the Ambassador
  • Free replacement of oil filters
  • Receive customer feedback for continuous product and service improvement
  • Educate customers on benefits of using genuine spare parts and how to distinguish between genuine and spurious parts
  • Create awareness of spare parts and spare part kits which when fitted will improve the performance of the vehicle

Scheduled to be organised across 1,200 locations nationwide, the camp will educate over 2,50,000 Ambassador taxi operators about the latest changes that have been brought about in the Ambassador as a result of the modernisation drive, provide free service to taxi operators by HM-trained technical personnel and inform them about the benefits of using genuine spare parts. This is the first time that any automobile company is organising a service camp at such a large scale.

Beginning 20 May 2003, the camp will continue for two months and will cover New Delhi, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu in its first phase owing to a large population of Ambassador taxis at these places.

Says HM marketing vice-president S Burman: "Taxis are passenger cars and unlike other private cars, these are meant for vigorous usage to maximise the earnings of the operators. There are over 3,00,000 Ambassador taxis plying across the country owing to the maximum safety, comfort, spaciousness and above all the lowest life cycle cost.

"Through this service camp, we are embarking on a large-scale initiative that is targeted at servicing around 2,50,000 taxis with an objective of not only rendering check-up but also to educate operators on ways of enhancing their earnings by proper maintenance of their vehicle. Also, the current model of Ambassador cars has undergone many product improvements that offer an enhanced performance to the customers.

"Through this camp, we will also educate our customers on the numerous changes that we have brought about in the Ambassador that make it as contemporary as other cars on the road. In addition, the camp will enable us to receive their feedback, which will help us drive our continuous products and services improvement programme."

HM is the pioneer automobile manufacturing company in India. Over the years, it has established itself as a manufacturer of cars that are comfortable to travel in and relevant to Indian road conditions. From being a single-product company four decades back, it has grown into an over Rs 1,600-crore company, manufacturing passenger cars and utility vehicles. Its product stable includes the Ambassador, RTV, Trekker, Pushpak, Lancer and the Pajero.
