Maya Entertainment deploys Intel Xeon processors
By Our Corporate Bureau | 26 Aug 2004
Mumbai:
Intel has announced that leading computer animation and
visual effects studio for film and television in India,
Maya Entertainment, has deployed Intel''s latest Xeon processors
to create a powerful compute platform to meet its need
for high-end computing power.
The deployment of Intel''s high-performing Xeon processors will enable Maya Entertainment to significantly boost performance, memory and graphics capabilities of their workstations.
Workstations will benefit from the PCI Express technology with x16 PCI Express Graphics adapters in the SE7525GP2 board. These new technologies coupled with high memory bandwidth will address the demanding requirements of digital filmmaking and design automation.
"Our rendering requirements have shot up with our execution of high complexity international projects and Intel''s latest Xeon processors provide us with the necessary computing power and performance for our memory and graphics capabilities. We recognised our need and realised that the Intel solution worked best while providing greater cost-performance benefits. Intel''s solution was the technology differentiator," said Rajesh Turakhia, CEO of Maya Entertainment.
"Film studios across the world have recognised the importance of special effects and digital animation in the movies. Growth estimates of the worldwide animation industry are at $50-70 billion by 2005 and the Indian market slice will also grow considerably. Indian companies have won some US$150 million to $US 200 million in business, and leaders in the Indian industry like Maya Entertainment are turning to innovative IT solutions to differentiate themselves. Intel''s solution provides Maya Entertainment with the difference in performance it needs," says Shrikant Patil, director of solutions, Intel Technology India.
