23 Nov 2011
BOC Aviation, a Singapore-headquartered aircraft leasing company, signed a contract with Embraer for 15 E-190 aircraft. Deliveries are scheduled from the fourth quarter of 2012 through 2014.
The deal marks BOC's first purchase of Embraer aircraft. The company operates 179 Airbus and Boeing aircraft, and has 73 on firm order.
BOC Aviation MD and CEO Robert Martin said, ''We see excellent potential for the E-190 not only here in Asia where there is strong growth but also with airlines around the world that have discovered the importance of 100-seat aircraft capacity, both in developing new markets and complementing narrow-body operations with relevant economic gains.''
BOC Aviation is a leading Asia-based aircraft leasing company, with a fleet of aircraft placed with over 40 airlines worldwide. In addition, the company also offers a wide range of lease management and aircraft finance services, both directly and through its parent company Bank of China. Besides direct orders with manufactures, BOC Aviation also purchases and leasebacks aircraft with airlines.
BOC Aviation is headquartered in Singapore, with representatives based in Europe and the US.
The company is owned 100% by Bank of China.
Embraer said it has received more than 1,000 firm orders for its E-Jets from 60 companies in 40 countries.
