Hong Kong: Regional carrier and Cathay Pacific subsidiary, Dragonair, has postponed the launch of its new service to Bangalore, India, with its first flight now scheduled for 24 May instead of 1 May, which was its original launch date. Dragonair was forced to postpone the launch because of the delay in the inauguration of the new international airport, located at Devanahalli outside Bangalore, to a date after 10 May.

The airline is making alternative arrangements for passengers who had booked tickets on the airline's flights to and from Bangalore before 24 May.

The Bangalore service will mark the first time that Dragonair will operate flights to India.

The service will be a daily flight operated by an A330-300 aircraft. The carrier hopes that this service between Hong Kong and the thriving southern region of India will also help boost Hong Kong's position as a leading international aviation hub.

Dragonair, an affiliate member of oneworld, is a Hong Kong-based airline currently operating a fleet of 31 passenger aircraft and eight freighters. It serves 34 regional destinations, including 21 cities in mainland China.

Dragonair is part of the Cathay Pacific Group.
