Thrillophilia launches a 'One-Stop' tourism guide for Lakshadweep

In a bid to capture the recently growing interest in Lakshadweep tourism, Rajasthan-based travel platform Thrillophilia has launched a dedicated online platform, TourismLakshadweep.com. This move comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to the Archipelagos and his appeal to explore domestic tourism alternatives.

Following the recent controversy with the Maldives and a rise in the #BoycottMaldives movement, Indians have been promoting travel to domestic destinations such as Lakshadweep.

TourismLakhsadweep.com aims to be a comprehensive resource for travelers, providing information on everything from travel permits and transportation to sightseeing options and adventure activities. Initially available in English, the platform soon plans to offer content in over 10 Indian regional languages and 10 international languages for a wider reach.

Thrillophilia also plans to further expand its offering by introducing tour packages, offbeat itineraries, and activity bookings directly through the website. Co-founder Abhishek Daga highlighted their commitment to unlocking hidden travel treasures and emphasized Lakshadweep’s immense potential for water sports, cultural experiences, and island hopping.

Thrillophilia recently announced its decision to offer 100% refunds to customers booked on Maldives tours due to the diplomatic conflict. This customer-centric approach aligns with their vision of promoting domestic tourism alternatives like Lakshadweep, known for its pristine beaches, turquoise waters, and unique coral reefs.

EaseMyTrip CEO Nishant Pitti also announced on his social media platform X his company’s decision to cancel all flight bookings to the Maldives to showcase solidarity with India and the Indian tourism industry. He also mentioned that the Indian beaches are on par, if not better, than the beaches in the Maldives and Seychelles.

Other major players, like Tata Group’s Indian Hotel Company and Gujarat-based Praveg, had recently voiced their confidence in Lakshadweep’s tourism potential. With its unique geography and untouched beauty, Lakshadweep is poised to become a thriving destination for both domestic and international travelers.

Refer to Chart 1 to see the number of visitors to Lakshadweep in the past 11 years.

Chart 1

According to Chart 1, tourism in Lakshadweep has fluctuated over the years. In the year 2011, 9,424 tourists visited Lakshadweep. This number significantly decreased in 2012, with only 4,417 people visiting the tourist destination. In 2015, the island saw heavy footfall, resulting in 17,241 people visiting. In 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of tourists in Lakshadweep fell to 3,462 people. The island attracted a strong number of tourists in 2021 and 2022, amounting to 13,500 and 22,800, respectively. This number is expected to increase in 2023, and with a boost in infrastructure, tourism in Lakshadweep will only increase in 2024.

This news article highlights the growing interest in Lakshadweep tourism and Thrillophilia's strategic move to capitalize on this trend. By providing a comprehensive online platform and focusing on customer satisfaction, Thrillophilia is playing a key role in making Lakshadweep a more accessible and popular tourist destination.
