Electrical and instrumentation technology leader ABB is acquiring Dutch energy management company, Sensorfact BV, in a move to expand ABB’s digital energy management offering to customers.
Utrecht, Netherlands-based Sensorfact offers a scalable software solution that helps small and medium enterprises increase operational efficiency and save on energy costs by degitalisation of operations through the use of AI.
The acquisition further expands ABB’s digital energy management offering and is expected to close in Q1 2025. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Established in 2017, Sensorfact has over 250 employees in Utrecht. Besides, it has operations in Amsterdam, Barcelona and Berlin and a client base of more than 1,900 across Europe.
Massimiliano Cifalitti, President of ABB’s Smart Power division, said the acquisition of Sensorfact will help customers improve energy efficiency, reduce maintenance costs and boost production, while making energy management systems more efficient through the use of big data and AI.
Sensorfact’s energy management software solutions includes plug-and-play sensors that measure consumption on machine-level and connect to a smart software platform. Using algorithms to analyse data to identify energy-saving opportunities, it would be able to provide easy-to-implement solutions to each customer’s operational issues, says ABB.
By increasing energy efficiency and reducing costs, it is also helping the customer achieve reduction in carbon emissions, it adds.
