Reliance Telecom moves Delhi High Court to quash charges

Reliance Telecom, an Anil Ambani group firm, has moved Delhi High Court seeking to quash charges against the firm and three of its executives in the 2G scam.

The firm, in the petition, has stated that there was not even a prima facie case against the company and three executives for criminal conspiracy.

It has named Central Bureau of Investigations, department of telecommunications, law ministry and Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) as respondents, it said in a statement.

Reliance Telecom has also mentiond that Swan Telecom had filed application months before Raja became telecom minister.

CBI had charged Reliance ADA Group officials Gautam Doshi, Hari Nair and Surendra Pipara with cheating and criminal conspiracy, and causing loss to the exchequer.

On Saturday, the court charged former telecommunications minister Andimuthu Raja, his personal secretary R K Chandolia and former telecom secretary Siddhartha Behura with bribery, forgery and conspiring to cause financial loss to the government in the 2G spectrum scam.

Unitech Ltd managing director Sanjay Chandra, former DB Realty Ltd managing director Vinod Goenka, former DB Realty managing director Shahid Balwa and three companies -- Reliance Telecom Ltd, Swan Telecom Pvt and Unitech Wireless Ltd -- under the scam.

All the charged had deny any wrongdoings.
