HCC in pact with UK's AMEC for nuclear technology services

New Delhi: Engineering construction major HCC Ltd tday said it had signed a deal with the £2.6-billion UK-based engineering and project management company Amec plc to jointly explore the application of consulting and EPC services for nuclear power plants in India.

HCC already has civil engineering expertise in nuclear power plant construction, as it has built over 50 per cent of India's installed nuclear capacity.

HCC said in a statement  that the tie up with Amec will strengthen its capabilities to execute services in the field of mechanical and electrical components for nuclear power plants by sourcing the latest prevailing global technologies through AMEC.

Amec has a 50-year history of delivering highly complex 'new-build' programmes in the nuclear sector. From construction of some of the first civil nuclear power plants in the world to development of the latest generation IV designs, Amec has broad experience of various reactor technologies, and is wholly independent of vendors.

Amec also has significant global experience in the nuclear sector and will bring world-class design, safety and project / programme management experience to support the development of new nuclear projects in India.
