India’s cooperative-led ride-hailing platform Bharat Taxi plans to expand across major cities and talukas over the next two to three years, the government said.

NEW DELHI, March 11, 2026 — Bharat Taxi, the government-backed cooperative ride-hailing platform, is preparing for a nationwide rollout as part of efforts to broaden mobility services and support driver incomes.

Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Cooperation Krishan Pal said the platform is expected to expand to major cities and talukas within two to three years.

Cooperative approach

The initiative operates under a cooperative structure designed to give drivers a stake in the platform. Officials say the model emphasizes transparency and aims to provide an alternative to traditional ride-hailing aggregators.

Drivers can join the cooperative by purchasing a ₹500 share, allowing participation in governance as the network expands.

Current footprint and rollout
