Leading mobile telephone equipment manufacturer, Motorola, announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with AGEA, a leading wireless infrastructure software company, founded in 1999, which offers real-time mobile decision support and mobile workforce management solutions for Global 2000 enterprises.

Under the agreement AGEA will develop a suite of business applications for Motorola's Java technology-enabled handsets for iDEN networks. These handsets, including the Motorola i85s and i50sx models, incorporate Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME) (TM) technology, allowing users to download and run multiple business applications such as those developed by AGEA. The suite of applications developed by AGEA will enable users to remotely access documents from enterprise computers using Motorola's Java technology- enabled handsets.

With these applications, business users can access their corporate and personal data, create, edit and send text files, access network servers behind corporate firewalls, send files via e-mail and fax; access and edit word processing documents and spreadsheets, remotely enter expense reports, send secure and real-time notifications and messaging alerts to individuals and workgroups, and store their favorite Internet bookmarks – all this through the wireless medium.

According to Mr. Bill Werner, corporate vice president Motorola and general manager of its iDEN subscriber group, as workforces become increasingly mobile, Motorola will deliver solutions to help businesses become more productive. These applications from AGEA can allow users to effectively communicate and efficiently conduct business, regardless of their location.

Commenting on the development Mr. Andres Carvallo, chairman and chief executive officer AGEA said, "With AGEA's suite of business applications, mobile professionals can receive alerts, read e-mail and manage, edit and send documents such as spreadsheets and expense reports with a single, handheld device, We are 100% focused on J2ME technology applications and we are excited about Motorola's new Java enabled phones."

Motorola's iDEN developer support program provides developers with virtually everything they need to develop applications for its J2ME-enabled iDEN handsets, including tools, technical support, marketing, and distribution.

Also Motorola's Applications Global NETwork (MAGNET) program supports development and commercialization of wireless applications by providing software application developers with the necessary tools, training, resources and services to bring solutions to market-ready status. iDEN handsets combine the capabilities of an Internet-ready digital wireless phone, text pager, and two-way radio to enable users to instantly communicate with one or hundreds of individuals at the push of a button.
