German luxury car maker BMW today launched its pre-owned car business in India, which will allow customers to own BMW products at prices as low as Rs16 lakh.

BMW India president Andreas Schaaf told reporters in Gurgaon, that till October this year, the company had sold a total of 8,042 cars in India, accounting for 40 per cent of the luxury car market. He added, with the BMW Premium Selection, it was looking to enhance position.

The pre-owned car business is expected to play an important role in the success of the company in India, he added.

He added the company expected the used car business to be about 10 per cent of new car sales.

Replying to a question as to the price differential between the new and used BMWs, Schaaf said, a 3 Series sedan with three years of usage, would be available for up to Rs16 lakh as against Rs24 lakh for a brand new one.

He added pre-owned BMWs would be available across seven exclusive BMW Premium Selection dealerships in India.
