Zebra Technologies said to buy Motorola Solutions' enterprise business for $3.5 bn

Zebra Technologies, a US-based barcode printer maker, has struck a deal to buy Motorola Solutions Inc's enterprise business in a $3.5-billion deal, the Financial Times today reported, citing people familiar with the discussions.
The all-cash deal, signed in the past few days, could be announced as soon as Tuesday, the report said.
A merged company would employ about 7,000 people and generate annual sales of close to $3.5 billion, it added.
Motorola's enterprise business run by Girish Rishi, develops advanced data capture, wireless infrastructure, barcode scanning, two-way radios and business pagers, wireless broadband networks, and RFID solutions.
But the business has recently been struggling due to cuts in government spending and posted sales of from $736 million in the fourth-quarter ended 31 December.
Founded in 1969 by Edward Kaplan and Gerhard Cless and based in Illinois, Zebra Technologies, makes thermal bar code labels and receipt printers, RFID smart label printer / encoders, card and kiosk printers.
Its products are sold in 100 countries around the world, and has annual revenues of $994 million.
