Japan Airlines (JAL) has become the first airline to introduce the Boeing 787 Dreamliner service to India. JAL will start Boeing 787 Dreamliner service officially from 1 May between New Delhi and Narita Airport in Tokyo.
The service will be the debut of the world's newest aircraft in India.
On 22 April this year, Japan Airlines debuted the 787 Dreamliner Service to the US thus launching the first-ever non-stop flight between Boston and Asia. Now JAL will be introducing the Dreamliner in the New Delhi - Tokyo route.
Boeing's new GEnx-powered aircraft will allow JAL to reduce its operating and fuel costs and strengthen its presence in India. As a start, JAL will start the 787 Dreamliner service on 4 out of the 5 weekly flights between New Delhi and Narita, Tokyo.
''With the launch of the Dreamliner India will become the 2nd country in JAL's operations to get this special high end craft," said Yasushi Isomura, country manager, Japan Airlines.
Isomura added, "The first Dreamliner service will be launched in India from tomorrow. JAL is making best use of the aircraft's long-range capability, appropriate capacity, and its economic performance. With the introduction of Boeing 787 Dreamliner, we are expecting to attract a lot of corporates and leisure travellers.''
