BlackBerry users in many countries, including India, have been hit by BlackBerry service outage since yesterday. Consequently, BlackBerry Messenger users were not able to send emails and messages, reports said.

This seems to be the first such instance after the company's launch of its new BlackBerry 10 smart phones earlier this year. Twitter was soon flooded with complaints from people seeking explanation from the company.

According to BlackBerry, the outage was temporary and it was taking steps for the restoration of services.

The company is also reported to have acknowledged that some of its customers might have experienced issues with BlackBerry services, while the company as well as all relevant support teams is working to resolve the issue. The company also apologised to customers who might have been affected.

Varghese Thomas, director - corporate communications - India & Greater China Region, said, as an update, the company could confirm that its technical teams had addressed the issue and BlackBerry services were returning to normal levels.

He added, BlackBerry, apologised to customers for any inconvenience and the company took all service issues - no matter how small - very seriously and through constant monitoring and investigation the company aimed to ensure its network met customer expectations.

Some reports stated the shares of the company were down six cents at $15.77 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

BlackBerry's network suffered almost a weeklong outage in October 2011. The company's network was hit with problems last year and yet again in January, this year.
