TCS professional force to be nearly a quarter million-strong by next fiscal

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is planning to add 12,000-15,000 professional in the current quarter (January-March 2010-11) and another 37,000 professionals through campus interviews in the next financial year.

This will take its total staff strength to 2,38,914 from the current 1,86,914.

TCS, the country's largest software exporter, plans to deploy the new recruits across its domestic and overseas operations.

TCS had added a total of 20,219 professionals during the third quarter of the 2010-11 financial year, its highest addition yet, taking its staff strength to 1,86,914 as of end-December.

"We plan to hire 37,000 professionals through campus recruitments in FY-12. We have so far visited 171 institutions pan-India," Ajoyendra Mukherjee, head of TCS' global human resources, said.

TCS had hired 27,500 professionals through campus recruitment last year.
