MSIL resumes operations at Gurgaon plant

Maruti Suzuki 's Gurgaon plant, which was not affected by worker unrest, resumed operations yesterday with around 1,700 vehicles rolling out of its Gurgaon plant.

The Gurgaon facility was closed on Friday and Saturday due to the strike at Suzuki Powertrain India Limited, (SPIL) which supplies diesel engines and transmissions to Maruti.

Production also got under way at the company's plant in Manesar.

The weld shop and the press shop were the first to resume operations with about 180 trained workers, from among those who had refused to join the strike.

The Haryana government called for talks between the management and the striking workers as workers vacated the factory premises on Friday night.

In a positive response to the invitation for talks, company officials met the workers' representatives along with Haryana government officials, yesterday.
