India's largest private carrier, Jet Airways, has been accorded recognition for excellence and quality of its service and in-flight experience in the 'Airline of the Year Category', at the second annual awards ceremony held at the British Museum in London on 17 June 2008.

The awards honour individuals and companies that best serve the interest of consumers, and it was for the first time that they included a category recognising airlines that have achieved high customer satisfaction scores for multiple service parameters. These parameters included cabin staff, pre-flight service, cleanliness, comfort, food and value for money.

The ''Which?'' Best Airline consumer survey on the basis of which award winners were determined, drew on stringent assessments of 71 airlines by over 30,000 ''Which?'' readers. Based on their experiences, Jet Airways scored a high 84 per cent in total satisfaction ratings, just a single percentage point behind the winner Singapore Airlines.

Jet Airways' general manager for the UK and Ireland, Duncan Gambrill said, ''Jet Airways has served the UK for just two years and launched its new cabin products only last year, including our herringbone lie-flat Première seats and private First Class suites. So this is an enormous achievement, especially against other longer-established airlines. We are delighted to be recognised in this way. It is a testament to our belief that Jet Airways is India's premier international airline, and is a tremendous boost towards achieving our goal of being one of the world's top five airlines by 2010''.

Including its domestic low cost carrier Jet Lite, Jet Airways has a combined fleet strength of 108 aircraft and offers customers a schedule of over 525 flights daily. Jet Airways flies daily from Delhi, Mumbai and Amritsar to London Heathrow, and operates one of the youngest fleet of aircraft. It scored top honours for its exceptional on board catering, in-flight entertainment, cleanliness, comfort and value for money.
