New Delhi: Some more bad news is coming your way if you intend to purchase an air ticket for slowly domestic carriers have begun adding a web transaction surcharge to ticket costs. The web transaction surcharge comes hard on the heels of a hike in fuel surcharge, which has gone up from Rs1,650 to Rs1,800-2,000, for short and medium sectors.
Low-cost carriers SpiceJet and IndiGo are now levying a web transaction (e-booking) charge of Rs50 on each ticket, which takes total surcharges (excluding basic fares) on an air ticket to Rs2,225 for shorter flights, of about an hour duration, and Rs 2,425 for longer domestic flights.
GoAir has already had a 'service' charge of Rs25 in place for some time.
Airlines around the world are desperately trying to stem the bleeding resulting from higher fuel costs and are looking for ways and means to increase revenues.
