India's domestic air passenger traffic rises 3.32 per cent in Jan-Oct 2009

Reflecting a buoyancy in the aviation industry, the domestic passenger traffic registered a growth of 3.32 per cent in the first ten months of 2009 till October, compared to the corresponding period of 2008.

The year 2007 was the peak period when the airlines carried 43.3 million passengers, which decline to 41. 3 million in 2008, minister of civil aviation Praful Patel said in the Lok Sabha.

In 2007 the total number of passengers were just 32.7 million Kingfisher leads losses

Most of the domestic airlines suffered losses during the year 2008-09 Patel said.

Kingfisher Airlines incurred losses of Rs1,602.00 crore, Jet Airways Rs402.30 crore, Jet Lite Rs630.40 crore, Spicejet Rs352.50 crore, and Go Air Rs22.55 crore.

Meanwhile, Paramount Airways netted a profit of Rs7.26 crore and IndiGo registered a gain of Rs82.16 crore.
