New Delhi: Jet Airways' low cost subsidiary, JetLite, has applied to the government for permission to  start daily services on the Delhi-Islamabad and Mumbai-Karachi routes.

According to JetLite officials, a bilateral agreement between the two countries for improved connectivity has prompted the airline to file for permission to start services between the two countries. The carrier has filed applications for two daily flights, which, it says, will take advantage of the fact that there is no direct connectivity with Islamabad. They also said that there is a huge market in the sector and that eventually they would also look at opening routes to new cities.

JetLite, which operates international services to Kathmandu and Colombo, is also awaiting permission to fly to Gulf routes.
