Kyocera Mita India, a subsidiary of Japan's $15.3 billion  Kyocera Group, yesterday said that it has acquired the copier division of Kilburn Office Automation, in order to expand its sales and service centres across the country.

Although both companies have not disclosed the financial terms of the deal, The Wall Street Journal, citing two people familiar with the matter said that the transaction will be worth more than 1 billion yen (Rs58 crore).

Through this deal, Kyocera Mita India has acquired the nationwide network of equipment sales offices, service centers and customers from Kilburn,, which will extend the Japanese group's sales and service coverage across most parts of India.

Kolkata-based Kilburn has a nationwide network of 13 sales offices and service centers and 108 employees, while Gurgaon-based Kyocera Mita India has four sales offices and 60 employees.

Kilburn's business activities include document management products, drawing office equipments, mailing products and information technology enabled services.
