While American President Donald Trump has threatened pulling out of the 2015 nuclear deal struck with Iran, Hassan Rouhani, its president, has warned that the US would regret its decision to quit the deal “like never before.”

“If the US leaves the nuclear agreement, you will soon see that they will regret it like never before in history,” declared Rouhani, in a televised speech. “Trump must know that our people are united, the Zionist regime (Israel) must know that our people are united. Today all of Iran's political factions, whether they be from the right, the left, the conservatives, reformers and moderates are united.”
The nuclear deal between Iran, the US, the UK, France, Germany, Russia and China is due for its regular, three-month renewal. Under American law, the US President has to recertify the agreement every three months.
Trump is opposed to the deal with Iran, signed by his predecessor Barrack Obama, which resulted in the easing of sanctions on the country for its commitment not to pursue a nuclear bomb.
The American President has also asked his European allies to “fix the terrible flaws,” in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). But key allies including the UK and France and Germany are reluctant to back out of it.
French President Emmanuel Macron has got the support of British Prime Minister Theresa May and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in continuing with the deal with Iran. And Britain is sending its foreign minister, Boris Johnson, to Washington to get support from it for the deal.
