On a hot summer afternoon, would one rather have iced tea or chilled beer? America's Molson Coors Brewing Co thinks it has the answer to this possible dilemma in its new product, an ice-tea flavoured beer.

Molson Coors, a leading beer brand in North America, is ready to launch Coors Light Iced T in Canada next month ahead of a likely US rollout. The citrus-like, iced tea-flavoured beer will have around 4 per cent alcohol content, but no caffeine.

"This beer is a twist on refreshment - the organising idea that is at the heart of Coors Light," Molson Coors chief executive Peter Swinburn said in a conference call with the media.

"Coors Light is the world's most refreshing beer, while iced tea is the world's most refreshing non-alcoholic drink."

The company plans to put "significant investment" behind the launch, he added.

Molson Coors spokesman Colin Wheeler said the company will evaluate how the beverage performs in Canada before deciding whether to bring it to the US.
