India joins move to revive WTO trade talks

Next on Nath's itinerary is a round of talks with Pascal Lamy, director general, WTO and Celso Amorim Brazilian foreign and trade minister in Geneva. Nath will also meet the key interlocutors from WTO member states.
Accordingg to some reports from the US, the EU, the US and Brazil were close to a consensus on the vexatious issue of market access for agriculture products and farm subsidies.
India
is expected to convince Brazil not to toe the US demand
that developing countries provide greater market access
for its agricultural products, without agreeing for
a substantial cut in its own farm subsidies.
