Foxconn will attempt to build artificial data factories using Nvidia chips and software, which will be used in products such as self-driving cars. A statement was issued by the Taiwan-based company on Wednesday, 18 October, 2023.

Foxconn’s chairman, Liu Young-way, and Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang, issued a joint statement at Foxconn’s annual Tech Day that their company was building AI factories together.

Huang even showed a hand-drawn sketch of the AI factory that their company was building. He stated, "This facility will receive data as input and will generate intelligence as its output. In the years to come, AI factories will become a staple in every company and industry."

Nvidia and Foxconn will be building an entire end-to-end AI system for electric vehicles. The software for the car would be constructed by the AI factory.

"Of course, this car will have the feature to collect life experiences and gather additional data. This data will be sent to the AI factory, where the software will be enhanced, leading to updates for the entire AI fleet," Huang explained. "Nvidia and Foxconn are collaboratively constructing the complete system, consisting of the AI factory on one end and the EV fleet on the other," he emphasized.

Nvidia shares have multiplied three times in 2023, reaching a market value of more than $1 trillion. This has been influenced by the company’s integral role in chip manufacturing.

Foxconn is the main supplier of Apple iPhones. The company has the desire to have a similar amount of success in EVs as they had in personal computers. Standing beside Huang, Liu explained that Foxconn's objective is to transition from being a manufacturing service company to becoming a platform solution company. He highlighted smart cities and smart manufacturing as just a couple of the many applications for which they intend to utilize AI factories.

"Now I have a clear understanding of what can drive and enable the development of these intelligent platforms," Liu remarked.
