Vadra-DLF deals: PIL filed in Allahabad high court

The central government was today asked by the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court to respond to charges levelled against Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, by India Against Corruption member Arvind Kejriwal.
The court, which was hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) by activist Nutan Thakur, has fixed 21 November as the next date for hearing.
The PIL sought a thorough probe into the charges levelled by Kejriwal and his colleagues. Thakur also told the court in her petition that she had also sent a letter to principal secretary in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) but was sure that it would not elicit a response.
Last week, Kejriwal and lawyer Prashant Bhushan had levelled allegations against Vadra, for making windfall gains as quid pro quo in land deals with real estate giant DLF.
Commentators say while finance minister P Chidambaram may say there was nothing to be done in the DLF-Robert Vadra case, calling it a deal between two private parties, regulators needed to look into Vadragate.
Chidambaram has also sought to skirt the iussue saying since DLF was a listed entity on the stock exchange and thus under the jurisdiction of Sebi.
