And now, Raja wants court permission to grill CAG

Andimuthu Raja, former telecom minister and the main accused in the 2G spectrum scam of 2008, today said he would seek the court's permission to grill the Comptroller-General of India, Vinod Rai, whose estimate of the Rs1,76,000-crore presumptive loss to the exchequer kicked off the controversy over 2G spectrum allocation.
Speaking in an interview with a Tamil TV channel after seeking court permission to visit his constituency in Tamil Nadu, Raja said the leaking of the CAG report was responsible for all the controversy over the 2G spectrum allocation.
"CAG report is meant for Parliament. For the first time in Indian judiciary, the CAG report is being treated as the basis for a criminal investigation by the Supreme Court," said Raja.
Raja, out on bail after being in jail for 15 months, got court permission to visit his constituency Nilgiris in Tamil Nadu this weekend for two days.
Special CBI judge O P Saini granted permission to Raja to go to his native place from Friday evening to Sunday night.
It may be noted that the CBI too had not objected to his plea and the case was not listed for Saturday.
