The head of India operations at Swiss bank UBS AG, Manisha Girotra, has resigned, and the company named Aashish Kamat as chief executive officer.

Girotra, who has been the face of UBS India, was the chairperson and managing director of the UBS India, will continue with the bank till December.

The bank had sent a mail to its employees naming Kamat as the new CEO.

Girotra joined UBS in 1998 and has since then been its face.

She was involved with several big cross-border deals, including UK-based Vodafone's acquisition of a stake in Indian GSM operator Hutchison Essar, United Spirits' buyout of Whyte & Mackay and Hindalco's deal to acquire Novelis.

Though the 42-year-old Girotra's exit from UBS has been doing rounds for the past couple of weeks, nothing yet is known about her future plans.
