Former central vigilance commissioner (CVC) PJ Thomas will file a review petition in the Supreme Court against its verdict, which quashed his appointment as the country's chief corruption watchdog, according to reports.

Thomas wants a constitution bench of the Supreme Court to hear his petition.

Meanwhile, the Kerala government released a letter to the media on Thursday that showed that it had indeed intimated the then minister of in charge at the centre and currently chief minister of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan about the accusations that Thomas was facing.

In the letter, the Kerala administration had appraised the centre on the cases and Thomas could therefore not be considered for the post of the top corruption watchdog, according to media reports.

The letter was released following a spat between Chavan and V S Achutanandan, the Kerala chief minister, over the CVC controversy.

Chavan was head of the department of personnel and training at the time of CVC's appointment and has been blamed by the prime minister for keeping him in the dark over the cases against Thomas. Chavan had said that the Kerala government had given a clean chit to Thomas.
Taking offence at the statement, Achutanandan said the Maharashtra chief minister was "lying" and trying to "hide his fault."
