Dr Baldev Raj, director, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research awarded National Metallurgist Award

Chennai: Dr. Baldev Raj, a distinguished scientist and director, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam has won the coveted National Metallurgist Award (Research-Academy) 2007.  

The award was conferred on Dr Raj on Wednesday 14 November, at the National Metallurgist Day annual technical meeting of the Indian Institute of Metals at Mumbai.

The award constituted by the ministry of steel, government of India and Indian Institute of Metals, carries a cash prize of Rs1.5 lakh, citation and certificate.

The award is given every year to two eminent professionals - one from Industry and another from research and academy.

Dr.Raj steers science and technology programmes with a mission to develop world class technology in fast breeder reactors and fuel cycle.

He is a recipient of several national and international awards including Padma Shri from the Government of India. He has more than 650 publications, 38 books and special volumes of journals.
