The one major reason cited was that ASI was not getting adequate news column centimeters while FICCI seemed to get the glory. The other reason is that FICCI for some internal reasons wanted the actuaries conference to be held only in Delhi while members of ASI demanded that the venue be shifted to Mumbai, which has a larger number of actuaries.

However the ASI is not going it alone. It will hold the eighth annual actuaries conference in partnership with the International Actuarial Association (IAA) on February 16 and 17, 2006.
