ANZ Grindlays hires new key staff
Mumbai: Samir Govil, director (business development) of Visa
International, has joined ANZ Grindlays as head of credit card business. This is part of a
top level restructuring plan initiated by the bank to retain a competitive edge in its
operations. The actual restructuring began months back when the bank appointed Anuroop
"Tony" Singh, then Bank of Americas country manager (retail banking), as
country head (India) and regional head of personal financial services in South Asia and
the Middle East, in May 1999. McKinsey and Co has been advising the bank on its
restructuring.
The bank has also engaged Balaji Rao
and Kamal Kapoor of Standard Chartered Bank to head property services and bank services
respectively. Rahul Khosla, former country head (India) at Visa International, has also
joined ANZ to head its personal banking.
The other key staff brought in by the bank are Anil Mehta
from American Express and Sunil Sharma of Bank of America.

Hellemans is Vysya Bank

Bangalore: Vysya Bank has appointed Bart Hellemans, a nominee of Bank
Brussels Lambert, a part of ING group, as its deputy managing director. Vysya Bank is the
first among domestic banks to have an expatriate in a top post.
Mr Hellemans, who has been heading the Bank Brussels
Lambert desk in India for the last two years, is an expert on Indian banking. He will look
after corporate and retail banking, integrated treasury operations, infotech division and
financial distribution products of Vysya Bank.
R.C. Kapoor, former chairman and managing director of
United Bank of India and executive director of Oriental Bank, and Balasubramaniam, former
country head of American Express in India, have joined the banks board.
