Go Daddy acquires smartphones website creator M.dot Inc

Go Daddy, the world's largest internet domain registrar and web hosting company, yesterday acquired M.dot Inc, a leading mobile app for small business website creation and management, for an undisclosed sum.

Founded in 2012 by Dominik Balogh and Pavel Serbajlo California-based M.dot has been backed with $700,000 seed funding from leading Silicon Valley investors including Floodgate, SV Angel and Archimedes Labs.

M.dot app, which has been featured by Apple in the iTunes App Store, offers users the opportunity to create a mobile website based on pre-loaded templates with easy-to-use custom features, such as store location, driving directions, tap-to-call, galleries, business hours and price lists, all in a user-interface designed for mobile device screens.

It also includes a blog feature, which allows users to write and insert photos and video with rich text capabilities and integrates with Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube and Dropbox.

Writing about the acquisition on the company website, Balogh and Serbajlo said, ''We're excited to announce that M.dot is joining Go Daddy! As the largest domain and hosting provider in the world, Go Daddy has extensive experience in the small business sector, customer support, and marketing. With these additional resources and industry expertise added to our team, we will take mobile software for small business to the next level. The service will continue to be developed and enhanced further.''

Go Daddy said that the acquisition will add to its extensive product offerings gives its 11 million customers an easy way to create and manage mobile websites on their smartphones.
