Study finds reasoning scores lowest among MBAs

An all-India study of marks obtained by 2,264 MBAs across 29 cities who sat for tests conducted by recruiting companies found their employability a mere 21 per cent, down from 25 per cent last year. 

The results also revealed that MBAs obtained among lowest reasoning scores.               

The students, drawn from over 100 B-Schools beyond the top 25, were tested in three areas - verbal ability, quantitative ability and reasoning - using the internationally standardised tests by MeriTrac on behalf of recruiting companies.

According to the AICTE Approval Process Hand Book: 2012-13  the number of MBA seats in India has grown almost four fold-from 94,704 in 2006-07 to 352,571 in 2011-12 -  a compounded annual growth rate of 30 per cent over the past five years.

To benchmark the current state of employability of these management graduates, management education e-portal MBAUniverse and India's largest testing and assessment company, MeritTrac teamed up to assess the quality of MBAs.

''Questions are asked about the talent coming out of MBA colleges, and whether they create a workforce responsive to the needs of the economy like understanding of business and on-the-feet thinking.
