Maharastra CM awards Golden Peacock ''total quality award''

Mumbai: Vilasrao Deshmukh, chief minister of Maharashtra, inaugurated he 15th World Congress on 'total quality' held on January 14, 2005 in Mumbai and presented the Golden Peacock awards on the opening night.
The awards have been instituted by the Institute of Directors (IOD), a premier institution engaged in the fields of corporate governance, quality, environment protection and innovation.
New York-based OfficeTiger, the largest diversified judgment-based BPO firm offering industry-focused solutions, won the 'Golden Peacock innovative product / service award' for the year 2004. The objective of this award is to encourage competitiveness in quality and innovationamong technology-oriented firms.
Past awardees in this category include Infosys, Wipro, Reliance Infocomm Ltd, Godfrey Philips India Ltd, Pfizer, Larsen & Tourbo and BPCL. Justice A M Ahmadi, former chief justice, Supreme Court of India, headed the jury for awards.
The award is given to a product or service, which shows a quantum jump in the using current technology to achieve maximum customer satisfaction at minimum cost.
