Ma Foi Randstad, the country's largest HR (human resources) services company, has come out with an internet-based study that seeks to understand the mindset of employees.

While addressing the media at a function to mark the release of The Ma Foi Randstad Work Monitor, a quarterly review of 'mental mobility status' of employees, K Pandiarajan, managing director, Ma Foi Randstad, said, ''As part of the process, the state of mind of workers is studied in 23 countries across five continents, compared amongst countries and finally presented in the form of an index.

''The index shows the extent to which employees are thinking of changing their jobs in a short-term when compared to other countries in the world.''

''Apart from the Mobility Index, the survey deals with the trust of employees in the job market, fear of job loss, job change and readiness to change in job. In addition to these four aspects, the survey also covers related aspects like satisfaction levels and personal motivation levels of the employees,'' he added.

The initiative is part of a global-level exercise to try to map employees' attitudes towards job change and the findings which are part of its maiden review have just been released. Work Monitor, according to Ma Foi would henceforth be a regular quarterly review.

The index is a measure of employees' inclination towards changing their jobs over the short-term. The index provides a rough measure of how much trust they repose in the job market, their fear over job loss and their willingness to make a job change.
